Overlooking Summit Valley. North of Lake Arrowhead, CA. I can't I say enough about the wonders of this bike. It was my first ride to get back into riding with, after a very long absence. It is tall. Fairly imposing at first. I bought it new in June 1999. A perfect survival tool for the upcoming y2k disaster. This is a pretty indestructible and versatile bike. I've had a blast with it and probably won't part company anytime soon. As of 2/2004, I have 19,150 miles on it. The mighty KLR is at home on dirt roads and pavement. I've done long freeway blasts and quick trips. The high seating position is great for lane splitting and just general navigation through traffic. I have a jet kit in it, It really improved starting and driveability. I used to have a Supertrapp (see picture, but it was a pain in the ass to maintain, and not really good for distance riding, so I went back to stock. Steel braided front brake line was a must. The front brake is useless without this important mod. I don't ride this too much. In August of 2007, I now have 21,000 miles on the clock. It is now my 3rd string bike since I got the Connie. I sold the KLR August 2011. After 23,243 miles the engine suffered some damage from too many highway miles and it broke down about a mile from my house. The new owner was going to keep some parts and already had at least one buyer for some of the other parts.
