I leave a
t 7:00 in the AM.
I headed on up I-15 to Baker and collected the stamp for the Mojave Desert
N Pres. I then cut south across the preserve, even traveled a bit on old US66,
and eventually get to Joshua Tree NP. Even
though the VC is outside of the park, I decide to cruise south through. They even had a little Joshua Tree stamp. I
got to use my pass I had bought a few weeks before for the first time,
saving the $5 fee. (Let’s see, a
$50 pass, plus shipping just to save $5 – won’t get my money’s worth for
some time). Cruising through the
park at 45 and 35 mph is tough, especially after cruising at substantially
higher speeds through the
desert. After I reach I-10, I head
on to Indio and stop by a small museum that had a US99 exhibit
until the end of
the month. Then I continued on the
super slab to get home. I reflected
on how I will be traveling both I-15 and I-10 often in the next few months.
Total for the day was 527 miles, 2 stamps, 2 parks, and one more day.
I got home around 6:00.
